Gravitas Recordings is proud to present Virtus In Sonus for its sixth installation.  This series is back to fulfill its founding mission: unite emerging and establish Gravitas artists in a diverse, cohesive release.  This compilation series has had a legendary tale, featuring huge artists over the years including CloZee, Of The Trees, Lil Fish, Perkulat0r, Dorfex Bros, Mr. Bill, Esseks, Duffrey and so many more.  Every version builds a beautiful journey through electronic music, weaving between genres and styles to create something special.  Virtus is an Ancient Roman virtue that represents excellence; Sonus is Latin for noise and is the root word for sound.  Through our philosophy that vanity metrics are irrelevant to explore intelligent, excellent electronic music, Virtus in Sonus VI strives to express integrity and meaning. True to its name, listeners will be exposed to a diverse compilation of 15 tracks that explores everything between thoughtful, emotional, and energetic electronic music. This year’s compilation brings together some of our favorite Gravitas artists at the moment, along with some fresh faces that we are thrilled to showcase to the world.

‘Cerebral’ by SNITH opens the compilation with a beautiful reggae dub groove, a perfect laid back vibe to start the journey.  ‘The Game’ by DRMWVR brings up the energy and is a catchy trappy beat with world music influences, while slowly bringing in heavier bass and growls  ‘Tuvan’ by EINKI keeps this tribal trap sound going and nails the sound you’ve heard in many recent Gravitas releases.  ‘Bounce’ by Chamberlain skyrockets the energy with his iconic glitchy bass sound that we have grown so fond of. ‘Fractal Gate’ by Comisar is a beautiful downtempo bass track that captures the Comisar sound of his recent releases but with a more world bass influence and vocal chants.  ‘Teleport’ by TrebleTina builds on this with a melodic trappy beat with all sorts of ear candy that flow from the previous track.  ‘Moments’ by Eerie Antics pull back and is a beautiful downtempo groove with beautiful synths and foley, but then building into a huge drop that is the one of the hardest yet off the journey.  ‘Scarlett’ by Josh Teed x RYNS takes this energy and drops into a surreal halftime beat and quickly blends into a heavy drum & bass track.  ‘In Your Heart’ by Buzz Junior transforms this energy into the catchiest trap beat in years and brings us back to the glory days of trap. ‘Get Down’ by Luminyst takes the peak of the compilation’s energy and creates an extremely crunchy heavy glitch hop track that spares no mercy.  ‘Firebender’ by ST4RFOX brings back the half-time vibes and brings in his amazing live horns for a perfect blend of styles, feeling laid back but still hitting heavy.  ‘Flowers’ by Lil Fish pulls back and brings forth a beautiful Lil Fish journey that he is best known for, truly giving us nostalgia of an iconic Gravitas sound.  ‘Lady of the Forest’ by Dr. Sus keeps the beauty going with a soundscape of synths but much quicker drum patterns bringing up the energy.  ‘calumet’ by deemster feels like a track of the past in the best way possible with old school samples with a vintage tape feel, bringing in fast footwork drums and jumping into half-time sections throughout.  ‘Sitka’ by To The Tide closes the journey with a beautiful natural soundscape and slow groove that leaves the listener in a trance, almost feeling like it is marching along off into the distance.  What a journey it has been!
