These 7 tracks are a graduation from his signature circus dub to more mature and serious journey-like compositions. The album showcases Mark’s multi-instrumental abilities at his most acoustically composed body of work– incorporating touches of guitars, bass, violin, percussion, keys and voice performed and recorded by Mark himself. In his 2016 release Goop, Mark Rubin AKA Somatoast mentioned that his works come to life by experimenting with the immense capacities of Ableton Live. Launch into worlds of digital instruments with names like “Zipper Laugh” to “Soda Synth”, he unraveled his first full release ever.
Just over two years later, Rubin leverages his talent as a multi-instrumentalist in his 2019 EP Live Dreaming showcasing his knack for electro-acoustic production. “Broken Bits” remains one of the many ear-catching tunes off of Live Dreaming where we ourselves explore depth and possibility. With drippy space synths, serene slide guitar and off-beat keys “Broken Bits” showcases an open-source, dub-influenced format perfect for innocent mind wandering.
