‘Evaporate’ is an enchanting collaboration from 9 Theory and Torii Wolf that kickstarts their full collaborative EP on Gravitas Recordings. Dropping March 21st, this beautiful moody song takes inspiration from styles like Radiohead and puts their own electronic twist and top tier production. Followed by some huge remixes to give it the full electronic punch, this release checks all the boxes and is a trippy journey through these artists’ creative collaboration.
9 Theory & Torii Wolf have been friends for a long time before making this, and have always wanted to collaborate on a project like this for years. Both artists have a very refreshing approach to music making, and have collaborated with an extremely wide variety and range of artists and styles. While they mention that Radiohead was their biggest inspiration for this collaborative release, the music turned out to be its own thing that sounds like fans would expect from 9 Theory and Torii Wolf.
This release strips back to a deep Electronica sound that Gravitas has always pushed through experimental releases and downtempo, and with Torii Wolf’s beautiful vocals this release steps it up and truly offers a memorable and unique experience. With remixes bringing the whole release together and merging electronica & modern bass music, we can’t wait for the whole package…
“Although Tori and I love the whole EP, this song is THE one. This is the first thing we show anybody when sharing our collaboration with people, and it is almost always the favorite of the four songs by the listener as well. “Evaporate” seems to perfectly capture that dark and cool mood we wanted for this project as we always kept the mantra “what would Radiohead do” in the forefront of our minds. Also the trippy background field recording throughout the song is me walking on a creaky bamboo bridge over a pond at a beautiful temple in Chiang Mai during my honeymoon in Thailand, so that makes this song extra special for me too.” – 9 Theory
