Austin based DJ/producer Jake Scarbrough joined Gravitas Recordings in 2011 contributing tracks to both the Virtus in Sonus and Dubble Trubble compilations. In 2012 he released the Summertime EP with production partner and vocalist Anita Benner under the name Scarbrough & Benner. He followed this up in early 2013 with the Antics EP release.
Background: Jake spent most the late 90s and early 2000s in San Francisco entrenched in the electronic music scene. A lifelong musician, this time had a profound influence on him when he started producing his own tracks following a move to Austin in 2003. His background playing guitar and bass melded well with his love of electronic music to create his signature sound that often includes both live and digital instrumentation.
In 2007 he released his first LP and a follow up single and remix under the artist name Lush Logic. He subsequently signed with Studio 51 Music in 2008 and spent the following three years producing hundreds of electronica, dance, and hip hop tracks exclusively for TV shows such as the Oprah Winfrey Show and Dr. Oz. He has also signed tracks with a wide range of music publishers and libraries including LoveCat Music, Heavy Hitters Music, Harpo Sounds, Rock Talk Music, Music Dealers, Beatpick, and Pacifica Music, and has written original pieces for several indie films, TV and web commercials, web videos, and iPhone games.
As a DJ he has opened for downtempo/funk heavyweights such as J. Boogie and Thunderball, and plays regular DJ gigs in clubs, bars, and festivals around Austin.
