The Mr. Bill Cheyah Remix Contest is officially a wrap!
First and foremost, we want to thank everyone involved: Mr. Bill, SoundCloud, Keith McMillen Instruments, iZotope, Ableton LiveSchool, Psymbionic, Great Scott, Bran Richards, Bil Bless, Nikki Hampson and anyone else we may be forgetting.
We received over 200 submissions to the contest and were blown away by the amazing, unique, diverse, inspired, and creative submissions. So much so, that it took us much longer to get down to the final 20, after that, we had Mr. Bill, Bran Richards, Psymbionic and Great Scott vote on their favorites using a number system and tallied up the points to decide the finalist.
And without further ado, we present the finalist for the Mr. Bill Cheyah Remix Contest.
★ 1ST ★
1st place goes to Haywyre from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He impressed us with his ability to create something seemingly new while maintaining some of the original characteristics of Bill’s original tune. The percussion, keys and overall production quality really impressed the judges and earned him the top spot among a truly impressive list of entries. Bravo!
★ 2ND ★
2nd Place goes to CloZee who is a 20 years old female French music producer / DJ / Guitarist =) from Toulouse / Biarritz, France. Regardless of her age, CloZee clearly has something special. Look for this young producer to continue to impress for years to come.
★ 3RD ★
3rd Place goes to Osiris & Sooko who are a duo out of the great state of Texas. Their well placed addition of vocals and new subbass line breathed unique life into “Cheyah” and earned them top honors among the judges.
★ 4TH ★
Last but not least, 4th place goes to Somatoast. Somatoast most definitely has a bright future with production with a sound that resembles some of the great glitch artists like Tipper, Bluetech and Heyoka.
